Let the eye remember
I saw against my will
Let his lashes tremble
But my heart is silent still
Let him weep a river
A river washes sin
Sons of man, forgive me
My heart has given in

Let the tongue conceal me
Wagging fast and thick
Let her body change me
Words to make you sick
Selfish in my sorrow
Tarnished in my pain
Licking up the swollen sky
To rid it of the stain

Let this face obey me
Let her look at ease
Kindly lead me forward
In search of others' dreams
Bend my mouth in answer
To crimes they all forgot
Lift it up to smile
At the battles daily fought

Let the mind remember
(Lest you all forget)
Peace is what you wish for
Sin is what you get
Man may weep a river
Tongues may carry on
Die to be a martyr
Live when life is gone
A poem for a friend, who is in great need of it.

(VIVRE, cherie. I want you to, if no one else does.)

Bravo. Well-done, well-said. I'd say more but I am ill now.
