The Night-Mare
I closed my eyes with every thought
Of falling back asleep
But Night-Mares came with silent blades
And thrust me back too deep

They played a song upon my veins
They caused my heart to cry  
I couldn't stand their searching hands
My lips could only sigh

I dreamt of agony in red
And sweetest lust in blue
Consumed by fear and all the years  
I've weakly suffered through

I closed my eyes with every hope
Of throwing them away
But dreams are fresh with sweating flesh
And they will not decay

I couldn't see the curtains flare
Nor shadows on the wall
The sheets were cold and in their folds
I screamed a wretched call

it's a secret
Shh! don't tell anyone i'm here
(especially not Auntie with her
spotted dress reeking of lye and
fake fingernails)  

she'd only make me eat again
(Shh! i didn't say that!)
chocolate muffins, shortcake, brats
and all those things that
reacquaint me with the toilet

"who is that?" she screeched
"girl, i can snap your collarbone!"

thanks, Auntie, but it's the only bone
that hasn't already
folded
tightly
into myself
and pierced my heart like a morbid
game of darts

my smile was hard to wear today
it slipped off and fell in the
sink with the
blood and
vomit and
tears
(but you can't tell them that
ConfessionFunny, the first time
I truly felt beautiful;
I was molested.
Coming OutI've spent too long
Living with this repression
Acting as if nothing's wrong
And fear turns to aggression

That wasn't me before
I learned how to fake it
But that's not me anymore
And this lie,I can't take it
This is going to hurt,but I'm strong and I'll make it

All this time,I've been faking perfection
And if by baring my flaws
I will lose your affection
Then so be it
DefyI will defy, I will destroy, every word you speak to me.
This life is mine, you have no control, so just leave.
I can't stand it when you think you know, it's disgusting.
It is time for your fake innocence to go, for eternity.
I can see through those eyes, they're full of hatred.
I will not listen to your lies, I will not be affected.
The only truth I have come to know is this world is black,
But I can make it light by following my own path.

What I'm Looking ForLying in my bed at night,
Staring at the ceiling.
There is no sound, there is no light,
Quite suddenly, I'm dreaming.

I've done this all before,
I'm not sure of the reason,
Why I'm looking for a cure
In this, my personal treason.

I convinced myself to hide the truth,
Behind a wall of lies.
And now I wait for a chance to use
These feathered wings of white.

Looking for something, I don't know what,
To fill this emptiness.
And as my tracks start to form a rut,
I wake from sleep's caress.

So now, armed with pen and paper,
I lay my soul bare to the world,
And maybe I'll discover
Just what I'm looking for.
TURN AROUNDTo turn around
You have to be detached
To disconnect you have to know
That none of this is real
Not me, not you, not the world for all we know

If you turn around slowly
The world will not follow
A face will turn to stare back
At bright, blinding darkness
Like Platon, like me, like you

We cannot escape our cave
But turn around to sneak a glance
At what is real

They will not be kind
The ignorant hates being told
That their shadowfigures
Are but specters

If you do not tread with intense caution
Some might try to stop you

My Bright and Happy AngelFrom those soft lips fall hope filled dreams, a sweet whisper
To my rough soul, a sacred trust that I adore
So intimate, embraced like this, fingers entwined
In a blanket, just laying there, love to explore

She wears a veil of happiness, naturally
Joy flows from her, it has since birth, if life gets rough
I go to her, and peace returns, such affection!  
I need her close, but, oh! how close is close enough?

A tender smile, eyes gazing and longing to see
Those beautiful eyes looking back, my heart beating
Her warmth warming, my body shivering, her touch
To much to take, my emotions overheating

Our lips collide in a spectacular disp
AlwaysOf all the people I've let go
You were always there
You were the one who was always on my mind

I've never felt a connection quite like this
And I've never felt as alone without you here by my side

Lying alone at night
With nothing but thoughts and fears to feed my mind
Fear of not being with you
Thinking about all the memories we'd made so quick
Yet set deep in the foundations of our hearts

As muses
As hearts connected by thoughts in dust

The moon aligned and shined on them,
He, a hero and she, a gem.

Woe soon came, an untimely moment,
'You're fired!', his boss laughed like an infant.
He was thrown out, thanks to money and greed,
Left with a tenner and two mouths to feed.

He looked high and low, nothing to be found,
But still determined, he stood his ground.
Until his eyes caught a group of girls,
At the street corner, twirling their curls.

He walked over and explained his strife,
The girl replied, 'we make 60 a night!'.
An option cruel and not to his taste,
But into this business, he

Faster than a heartbeat,
The rhythm ceased to exist,
It was like a miracle,
I didn't even ask for it.

You made them quiver in terror.

Now I hardly hear them,
Overwhelming my every thought,
I wonder sometimes,
If they went off to destroy someone else.

And now that they are gone …

I think about them,
Instead of the other way around,
It brings me to my knees,
I'm weak,
But I know I'm stronger now.

You are always near.

So I can go on with my day,
No need to waste time on what I was before,
You made them stop,
You made them quiver in terror,
And now that they are gone …
